Why is anger one of the seven deadly sins and what makes anger sinful? Tomorrow morning, Pastor Kenny will be speaking from Matthew 5:21-26 on Jesus' teaching about anger. We will examine such issues as, what does our anger say about ourselves? What impact does our anger have on our relationship with God? What impact does anger have on our relationship with one another? Join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am, as Pastor Kenny will continue his series on “The Seven Deadly Sins" with anger.

Celebrating Freedom in our Country and Freedom in Christ On the Fourth of July, we celebrate our independence as a nation. On Independence Day, we commemorate the Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject to Britain and were now free, united, and independent states. We are thankful for the history of our county, we’re glad to live here, and we praise God for the freedom we have to worship God in this country. As believers, our Independence Day was won at Calvary when Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Jesus gave us such independence from sin and independence to serve God. We are now no longer under the tyranny of sin. But we have to live out the independence that we have from sin. As the Apostle Paul states in Galatians 5:1, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” This freedom that we have in Christ needs to be lived out as we cling to Christ and don’t allow ourselves to by led astray by the deceitfulness of sin or by anything else that would keep us from serving God. Jesus died for our sins to give us the privilege to walk in freedom, have the joy of freedom in Christ, and to celebrate such freedom we have for the glory of God. As Jesus said in John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” So, on this Independence Day, let us celebrate the independence we have in the United States and let us celebrate the independence we have in Christ!
